Edward Oran Beck, born to Albert Oscar and Edna M. Lyles Beck on November 26, 1924, met the Lord the morning of February 21, 2017 after a battle with multiple infections and heart failure.

A career Marine, then a credit union officer, Edward lived a life of integrity, honor and Christian commitment. He was preceded in death in 2003 by his younger son Jimmy Dale Beck and in 2010 by his beloved wife Margeret Elizabeth Camden Beck.

He is survived by his son Joe Beck, wife Beverly and granddaughter Amber of Harlingen, Texas, his daughter Rosalie Beck of Waco, Texas, his grandson John, wife Lori and great-grandchildren Camden and Kesteren of Houston, Texas, his younger grandson Justin and wife Corinne of New York, and his younger granddaughter Crystal Kindschey, husband Nathan and great-granddaughter Brianna of California.

Born and raised in Floyd County, Texas, Edward grew up as Oran to family members. His grandfather nicknamed all the Becks and Ed's was "Rooster." Growing up with five brothers, one of whom died in childhood, and one sister, there was always lots to do and say in their household.
He met the love of his life, Margeret Camden, in English class as a high school sophomore. They wed after Ed served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.

After receiving an honorable discharge from the Corps, Ed began work at the Amarillo post office and the newlyweds began their new life in West Texas. In the early 1950s, Ed rejoined the Marines and the Becks, two sons and a daughter included, began moving around the country. Hawaii, Southern California, Virginia and Texas provided homes for these military folks as Ed worked in administration for the Corps.

After 26 years in the Corps, Ed retired in 1968 and entered the credit union world. They lived in San Diego as the kids grew to adulthood and left home to ursue their own lives. In the mid-1970s, Ed and Margeret moved to Abilene, Texas where he worked for the Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union. He retired from the credit union business in the mid-1990s and the couple moved to Waco to live out their lives in Central Texas. Margeret died in 2010 and Edward February 21, 2017.

A committed Christian and church member, Ed lived his life with integrity for his Lord and the honor of the Corps. Unwavering in his commitments, he was upright in judgment and action. To the end, he relied on God for wisdom and the courage to go on. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren praise his name for the example he set as a man and as a Christian.

All of us will miss Pa every day. A memorial service will be held at Park Lake Drive Baptist Church in Waco, Texas at 11 am, March 18, 2017. Memorial gifts should be made in honor of Ed Beck to churches and ministries that spread the love of God.
