Jane Marie Felten, 85, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017 surrounded by her family. She will be greatly missed by all.

Jane was born June 20, 1931, in Nevada Township, Mower County, Minnesota to Frederick and Anna (Heimer) Landherr. The family later moved to their farm in Johnsburg, Minnesota where she grew up as a farm girl along with seven brothers and sisters. Jane attended St. John Catholic Elementary School in Johnsburg where as a student she read every book in the school library. She later graduated from Adams High School.

Jane married LaVerne M. Felten on Nov. 20, 1950. While dating and after marriage they were very fond of attending local dances and she especially enjoyed dancing with LaVerne at the Terp Ballroom to the Big Bands that came to town. They settled in Austin where they raised five children. Jane was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was always very active, working outside the home (which was always incredibly clean!) after her children were older. Jane worked as a receptionist for several businesses and as the St. Augustine Church secretary for many years.

Jane had many dear and lifelong friends and often enjoyed spending time with them at the YMCA or playing bridge. She was very active at St. Augustine Church beyond her role as secretary, volunteering with countless church dinners, fund raisers, and the Rosary Society duties. She had the opportunity to meet Mother Teresa during a visit she once made to Minnesota. Jane was also an election judge for many years. She was an active genealogist and compiled several books on her family histories.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, LaVerne, Austin, Minnesota; daughter, Kay Brown, Fort Collins, Colorado; sons, Dale Felten, Park Rapids, Minnesota, Gary (Susan) Felten, Cornville, Arizona, Jim (Jeanne) Felten, Woodbury, Minnesota, Ron (Kimberly) Felten, Austin, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brothers, Jerome (LaVonne) Landherr, Adams, Minnesota, Herbert Landherr, Adams, Minnesota; sisters, Joan Landherr, Austin, Minnesota, Dorothy (Gerald) Gerber, Adams, Minnesota.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Landerrr; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Irene Landherr; sister, Ann Howden; son-in-law, Michael Brown; grandsons, David Brown and Joshua Williams.
