Adams--Donald Vincent Landherr, age 81, of Adams, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at Adams Health Care Center.

He was born Feb. 5, 1925, in Nevada Township, Minn., to Frederick and Anna (Heimer) Landherr. Donald attended school at Johnsburg, Minn., and at the Adams High School. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Tokyo, Japan, serving with the General Headquarters Far East Command as a mechanic and driver for the officers.
He returned to Adams and began his career as the "millman" for the Schissel Bros. Elevator, which later became part of the Stacyville Co-op Company. He retired in 1990. He was also the bartender at the Adams American Legion for many years. On July 20, 1950, he was married to Irene Laufle at Queen of Angels Catholic Church at Austin. Donald was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Adams Post #146 American Legion and Olaf B. Damm Post #1216 VFW in Austin.

He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law: Tom Landherr, of Byron, Minn.; Chuck and Cindy Landherr, of Rochester, Minn.; Mark Landherr, of Adams, Minn.; daughters and son-in-law: Sue and Brent Lunde, of Austin, Minn.; Deb Landherr, of Kasson, Minn.; four grandchildren: Stephanie (Bill) Krause, Kevin (Amy Addington) Landherr, Rachel (Jamie) Strouf, Dustin Lunde; great-grandson, Matt Krause; brothers and sisters: Gerald Landherr, of Austin, Minn.; Jerome "Slim" (LaVonne) Landherr, of Adams, Minn.; Herbert "PeeWee" Landherr, of Adams, Minn.; Jane (LaVerne) Felten, of Austin, Minn.; Joan Landherr, of Austin, Minn.; Dorothy (Jerry) Gerber, of Adams, Minn.; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene, in May 2006; and infant daughter, Mary; infant son, Robert; and sister, Ann.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father James Seitz officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Adams, with Adams Post #146 American Legion in charge of military rites. Visitation will be held at the Adams Funeral Home today from 4-8 p.m. with a 5 p.m. Rosary service and a 7 p.m. prayer service and on Saturday morning from 9-9:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
Organist will be Joyce Edland. Casket bearers will be Kevin Landherr, Dustin Lunde, Jamie Strouf, Bill Krause, Larry Gomer and Ron Felten.
