She was a member of Oak Forest Baptist Church. Over the years, Lavada was a generous participant in many church and civic organizations, and was always busy volunteering. She was deeply devoted to her children and grandchildren as well as her many friends throughout her life. Through it all she maintained a sense of humor, a lively inquiring mind and southern courtesy reflecting her genuine spirit of kindness and love. She is gone but will not be forgotten. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints". (Psalms 116:15)
She is survived by one sister, Frances Chance Boutte (Alexandria, LA), four children and their spouses, Ralph and Ruthie Heath (Columbia, SC), Kathy Grumbles (Katy, TX), Richard and Mary Heath (Houston, TX) and Jon and Deborah Heath (Pittsboro, NC) as well as ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
