Leslie Wayne Chance, Jr. died Monday, August 10, 2015 at the age of 89 at his home in Baton Rouge. A native of Baton Rouge, he was born October 12, 1925. He lived most of his life in Venezuela where he worked for Creole, a subsidiary of Exxon. After retiring in 1983 he and his wife, Joy, returned to Baton Rouge to live and be with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He is survived by two daughters, Leslie Henriquez and her husband, Jesus; Barbara Walker and her husband, Chuck; daughter in law, Jill Chance; Three sons, Michael Chance, and his wife Ginger; Randy Chance, and his wife Gerry; Gregory Chance; two sisters, Francis Chance Boutte, and Lavada Chance Heath . He had 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives that included: Bridget Chance Lawrence and her husband Brian, and sons Beau and Ben; Matthew Chance; Ann Chance Perez and her husband Chalyn, and daughter Ava; David Chance and wife Laura; Claire Chance Roth and her husband Mitchell, and daughter Corinne and son Chance; Lynn Chance Brown and her husband Jeff, son Brady and daughter Blake; Christopher Chance and his daughter Isabella; Bradley Chance; Brian Dunivant and daughter Boston; Stacey Dunivant Lopez and her husband Gilbert, and son Jacob and daughter Megan; Nesto Henriquez, Danny Henriquez, and Diego Henriquez; Kate Walker, Tom Walker, Michael Walker, and Leslie Walker. He was preceded in death by his wife Joy Castello Chance; parents Leslie Wayne Chance, Sr. and Velma Felps Chance; son Jon Richard Chance , and sister Dorothy Chance. Sister in-law Ruth Castello Bourgeois and her husband Floyd Bourgeois. In-laws Ethel Lanoux Castello and Clarence Edward Castello. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 12 pm until funeral service at 2 pm. Interment will be in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jesus Henriquez, Matthew Chance, Nesto Henriquez, Bradley Chance, Danny Henriquez, and Diego Henriquez. He and his wife were members of Most Blessed Sacrament Parish where he volunteered with grounds maintenance. He was a member of the Woodlawn Estates Civic Association. Neighbors remember him driving his truck through the subdivision and observing activities. He was a member of the Creole Annuitants Club and attended reunions. While still working in Venezuela he would return to the Louisiana on vacation. He enjoyed traveling, going to the Pearl Oyster Bar in New Orleans, sitting outside and visiting with family and friends, and beer, rum and coke, " Ya paso el avion". He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
