On Dec. 22, Donald William Krapf, 85, of Tamaqua, joined his wife, Marian Ruth Hanlon Krapf, who passed away Nov. 27. They were married for 60 years this past July.
Born in Tamaqua, he was a son of the late Andrew and Catherine Scheidigger Krapf.

A 1949 graduate of Tamaqua High School, Donald served in the Air Force during the Korean War.

Prior to retiring, he worked for the former Ridge Center Appliance Store, Lansford.

Donald was a member of the former First Presbyterian Church, Tamaqua. He was past president of the Tamaqua Dart League, member of the Tamaqua Crime Watch, and past secretary of Leased Housing.

Affectionately known as "Uncle Donald," he was a very hard worker who was frequently called on by friends and family to make use of his uncanny ability to fix nearly anything.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Calvin, Elwood, Albert, George, Robert, Nellie Stramara, Louise Light, Naomi Barron, Catherine Dudeck, Fern Tonkin, Regina Evans and Claire Hollenbach.

Donald is survived by a daughter, Linda Springer and her husband, Chuck, Orwigsburg; son, Karl Krapf and his wife, Crystal, Frackville; grandchildren, Garth Devlin, Pittsburgh, Connor Devlin, Millersville, Ryan Springer, West Chester, Olivia Springer, Orwigsburg, and Brett Krapf, Alexander Krapf and Kyra Krapf, all of Frackville; brother, Paul Krapf, Allentown; nephews and nieces.

A service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, with the Rev. Kari Anne Olson officiating. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorials in Don's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association GPA, 57 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701. Online condolences may be made at www.zgfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are being handled by Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Tamaqua.
