COLFAX — Mrs. Myra McAllister Anderson, 89, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, at home.
She was born Sept. 27, 1917, in Smythe County, Va., to the late Charles A. and Roxanna Kessee McAllister. She was a 1934 graduate of Mocksville High School and a longtime member of Center United Methodist Church in Mocksville, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the American Chestnut Society and was a well-known benefactor to many charities. She enjoyed needlework and being a reading volunteer at William R. Davie Elementary and South Davie Middle schools. She had also been the den leader of Cub Scout Pack 575.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. William Charles "Bill" Anderson on Sept. 23, 2002; a sister, Margaret Dawson; and two brothers, Albert Garrett McAllister and Sanders Franklin McAllister.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Anderson Hall and husband, Lane, of Colfax; three sons, Richard Charles Anderson and wife, Dorothy, of Casar, Thomas Stuart Anderson and wife, Linda, of Archdale and David Harold Anderson and wife, Gloria, of Mocksville; a sister, Dorothy M. Williams of Mocksville; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Ruthlyn Dunlap of Greensboro.
