Richard "Rick" O. Tipton, 57, of Shreve, passed away Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016 at LifeCare Hospice following a courageous 8-month battle with cancer. Richard was born April 23, 1959 in Millersburg to Richard D. and Fay J. (Starner) Tipton and was a 1978 graduate of West Holmes High School. He married Mary E. Walters Oct. 1, 2011 and she survives.
Richard had been a faithful employee for 38 years at Cerco Inc. in Shreve where he had been a CNC machinist operator. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed talking with friends on Facebook and was the creator of "The Glenmont Gang" Facebook page. He had been a member of the American Legion. Richard had a number of interests during his life, but the joy that came from spending time with his family and friends was his greatest.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son; Troy James Tipton (Brittany McClintock) of Shreve, a daughter; Ashley Lauren (David) Morgan of Wooster, his step-father; Bob Moore of Shreve, a step-daughter; Michelle Lee (Aaron) Justice of Pataskala, a step-son; Rexford Brian Garnes (Jonathan Levy) of Wilton Manors, FL, 3 granddaughters; McKalee Tipton, Parker Justice and Noel Justice, a sister; Debbie McDonough of Wooster, a brother; Kelly Garver (Angela Casey Jones) of New Pittsburg, a sister; Kerry Garver (Marty Mack) of Seville, and a special niece; Avery Garver. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents; Wilford W. O. "Bill" and Myrtle Starner, a sister; Lisha Trussel, and step-mother; Grace Tipton.
