Bargen - Saathoff Wedding Saturday
The wedding of Miss Lorene Bargen to A 3/c Harry Saathoff took place at the Centennial Lutheran church (sic) in Superior last Saturday evening at 7 o'clock. The ceremony was performed by Rev. V. Jordening, in the presence of the immediate families.
The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eilert Bargen of Nora and the bridegroom is a son of Mrs. Robert Saathoff of Superior. They are both graduates of Superior high school.
The bridesmaid was Mrs. Robert Saathoff and best man, Robert Robert, brother of the bridegroom.
A/3c Saathoff is stationed at Cheyenne, Wyo., and they will make their home there remporarily.
A reception was held for the newly-weds, at the home of the bride's parents.

She was baptized June 17, 1934 at Zion Lutheran Church in Deshler, NE and confirmed July 28, 1946 at Salem Lutheran Church in Superior, NE.
Lorene grew up in the Nora area and graduated from Superior High School with the class of 1951.
She married Harold Saathoff August 16, 1952 at Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior, NE. This union was blessed with the birth of six children.
Lorene and Harry moved to Hebron, NE where Harry started working for the Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph Co.
Lorene was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, NE active in Women of ELCA, teaching Sunday school, confirmation class, member of the property committee, and helping with funeral dinners.
She was an over 50 year member of the Hebron American Legion Auxiliary, Hebron Bible Club, Centennial Extension Club, and worked on the election board.
Lorene enjoyed spending time with her family, visiting, and always excited for the kids to come home, but most of all spending time with the grandchildren.
She was an avid gardener, fruits, vegetables, flowers, and enjoyed God's gifts of nature outdoors and indoors. Sometimes the inside of the house looked like Earl May. Lorene entered fruits, vegetables, and crafts in the local Thayer County Fair taking home many purple ribbons.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry in 2009, brothers; Albert Bargen and wife Marie, sisters; Norma Elliott and Wilma Kugler and husband Mel, and brother-in-law Hal Moore.
She is survived by her sons; Kurt and wife Peggy of Waterloo, NE, Kevin and wife Pat of Lincoln, NE, and Phillip and wife Lety of San Diego, CA, daughters; Susan Saltzman and husband Victor of Phoenix, AZ, Janine Johnson and husband Warren of South Sioux City, NE, and Laura Brown and husband Randy of Centerton, AR, two brothers; Donald Bargen and wife Norma Belle of Nora, NE, and Lyndall Bargen and wife Bonnie of Nora, NE, sister Evelyn Moore of Texas, grandchildren; Brent Saathoff and wife Kristi of Waterloo, NE, Kyle and Chad Saltzman and wife Kenzie of Phoenix, AZ, Brian Saathoff of Silver Creek, NE, Michelle Marx and husband Jeff of Lincoln, NE, Blake Wiedel and wife Blanca of Prague, OK, Heather Malchow of Deshler, NE, Brittany Melvin and husband Dru of Hebron,NE, Logan and Luke Saathoff of San Diego, CA, and Joy Appleman of Centerton, AR, 24 Great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Officiant will be Pastor Keith Brozek, organist Brenda Striggow, congregational hymns "What Child Is This", "My Borning Cry", and "Shall We Gather At The River" and special recording "Do You Believe In Me". Casket bearers; Brent Saathoff, Tom Bargen, Jeff Kugler, David Bargen, Andrew Bargen and Justin Volker. Visitation will be Tuesday December 6 from 1PM to 7PM, burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Hebron, NE. Memorials in care of the family in lieu of flowers.
