Farm Accident Kills Nuckolls County Farmer

Albert Bargen, 54, a well-known farmer, was killed about 6:45 last Wednesday evening when the Stackmover he was working with collapsed and pinned him underneath. He was killed instantly. The accident occurred near his farm home seven miles north and two and one-half miles east of Superior.

Mr. Bargen and his wife had moved two stacks of hay and he went back to the field northeast of their house to get another stack as she was preparing supper. When he failed to return, she went to the field where she found the tractor running, but couldn't find him. She immediately called neighbors for help. They located his body underneath the stack of hay.

Albert John Bargen was born June 26, 1920, at Superior, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eilert Bargen.

Dec. 11, 1945, he was married to Marie Thayer at her home near Nora. To this union were born two daughters, Connie and Janice. Marie died July 19, 1970.

Mr. Bargen was married to Marceline Tordrup on Sept. 6, 1972, at Nelson. He was a member of the Nelson Christian Church, having served many years as a deacon as well as holding other offices. He had farmed near Superior all his life.

Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Richard Calver (Connie) and Mrs. Gary Tordrup (Janice) of Lincoln; one grandson, Scott Calver; his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Eilert Bargen, Nora; two brothers, Donald and Lyndell of Nora; and four sisters, Mrs.Hal Moore (Evelyn) of Alexandria, Va., Mrs. Melvin Kugler (Wilma) of Salina, Kan., Mrs. Norma Elliott of Topeka, Kan., and Mrs. Harry Saathoff (Lorene) of Hebron.

Funeral services were held from the Christian Church in Nelson Saturday, Aug. 24. The Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior was in charge of arrangements.

There also remains his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eilert Bargen of Nora; two brothers, Donald and Lyndall of Nora and four sisters, Evelyn Moore of Alexandria, Virginia, Wilma Kugler of Salina, Kansas, Norma Elliott of Topeka, Kansas and Lorene Saathoff of Hebron.

Funeral services were held from the Christian Church in Nelson on Saturday, August 24th. Pastor Victor Schwarz officiated. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Superior. The Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
