“Wayne L. Martin, 86, Cherokee, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at 7:20 p.m. in the Cherokee Villa following a one year illness. Memorial services were held Saturday, Nov. 14, at 4 p.m. from the Boothby Funeral Home, Cherokee, which was in charge of arrangements. Rev. Roy Stacey officiated. The body was cremated. There was no visitation.
He was born Jan. 10, 1912, in Cherokee to George and Maude Goff Martin. He was married to Martha Jane Clemens on Nov. 10, 1933, at Marshfield, Mo. He was a self employed plasterer working in many homes in this area. In later years, he worked for Grundman-Hicks Construction Company, retiring in 1976. He loved the outdoors and fishing.
He is survived by : one son, Marc, and his wife Janet of Bruch Prairie, Wash.; one grandson, Thad, Brush Prairie, and one sister , Marian Patterson, Cherokee.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife on Sept. 7, 1970; three brothers, Roy, Reggie, and Dale; and two sisters, Hazel Speelmom; and Evelyn Witcraft.”
