Samuel Franklin Bedgood was born abt 1785 in NC to Old John Bedgood (Rev War Soldier) and Mary White. The identity of Mary White is no longer documented with any remaining public record, but is consistent with most Bedgood researchers since 1989. Samuel moved with his family to Washington County, Georgia around 1800.

He married Mary Ann Rogers abt 1808 in Georgia. (Source: Bidgood Family Tales written abt 1910). They were married almost 60 years and had at least 10 children together:
1-John Richard Bedgood 1810-1888, married widow Rhoda Brantley Ely. They lived in Washington County, Ga and had one son together.
2-James Madison Bedgood 1814-1870, married Matilda Cunnungham. They lived in Mississippi and Alabama.
3-Cyrus Louis Bedgood 1815-1874, married Charlotte Vickers and Eliza Crawford. He lived in Washington County, Ga.
4-Elijah 'Eli Cyrus' Bedgood 1818-1885, married Elizabeth Joiner. They lived in Laurens Co, Ga.
5-Elizabeth Bedgood 1819-1910, married Ryland Crabb. They lived in Washington and Laurens Co, Ga.
6-Jane 'Jincy' Bedgood 1823-1900, married Calvin Vann and moved to Alabama.
7-Mary Ann Bedgood 1826-1904, married Wiley Smallpeace and they lived in Georgia.
8-Samuel Franklin Bedgood, JR 1831-1863, moved to Alabama and married Sophronia Nix.
9-Jordan Bedgood 1834-1914, married Mary Ann Price and moved to Jefferson County, Georgia.
10-Martha Bedgood 1837-1850, died at age 13.

In 1815 to 1818 Samuel was a Private with the 1st Regiment of Georgia in the Seminole War.

In 1827, he made two land draws, one for Muscogee County and one for Lee County

Between 1820-1860 Samuel is found on the Federal census for Washington Co, Ga.

On 4 Mar 1843, Samuel and Mary Bedgood are granted transfer of membership at New Bethel Church in Davisboro.

Neither Sam nor Mary are listed on the 1870 census, and presumed to have died between 1861-1870.
Both are likely buried in the Bedgood Family Cemetery in grave with no visible marker.
