Eli Cyrus Bedgood was the son of Samuel Franklin Bedgood and Mary Ann Rogers. He was born in Washington County, Ga on 8 Oct 1818.

On 20 Mar 1844 he and Elizabeth J Joiner were married. She was the daughter of Malachi and Rachel Gardner Joiner. They were married almost 40 years. Their children were:
1-William Thomas Bedgood 1845-1927
2-John Eli Bedgood 1848-1923
3-Mary Jane Bedgood 1849-1860
4-Henry Jackson 'Jack' Bedgood 1850-1887
5-Elizabeth Josephine 'Josie' Bedgood 1853-1900

Eli had quite an extensive service record. On 11 Jul 1861 Eli enlisted in the CSA as a Private with Co F, 14th Georgia Infantry. He was later transferred to Co H, 28th Georgia Infantry and promoted to full Sgt. On May 2, 1863 Eli furnished a substitute-his son William. Eli then enlisted with the 5th Georgia Infantry Reserves, Co K.

Eli was a farmer most of his life and was listed on the Georgia 1860-1880 census records in Dublin.

On 24 Nov 1885, he passed away quietly at the County Poor Home, two years after his wife Elizabeth had died.
