AUGUSTINE T. BREGANTE
Services will be Monday for Augustine T. Bregante who passed away October 8, 2003 at Dominican Hospital. She was 82.
She was born July 22, 1921 in Santa Cruz, the daughter of Marco and Mary Carniglia. Augustine grew up in Santa Cruz and attended Holy Cross School. As a young woman living in Santa Cruz she met and in 1946 married Battista Bregante, Jr. In her earlier years she worked at the Miramar Restaurant and also at the cannery.
She was described by her family as a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a former member of the Italian Catholic Federation.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Virsaitis and her husband, Paul of Aptos; two sons, Battista Bregante III and his wife, Valerie of Soquel and Louis Bregante and his wife, Kimberly of Cleveland, Ga.; brother, Victor Carniglia of Santa Cruz; She was also survived by five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Battista Bregante, Jr in 1983, four brothers and her sister.
The funeral cortège will leave Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel 1050 Cayuga St., Santa Cruz, Ca. Monday October 13 at 9:30 a.m. and proceed to Holy Cross Catholic Church 126 High St., Santa Cruz, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated beginning at 10:00 a.m. A Vigil service will be held at Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will be at the chapel Sunday from 3 p.m. to service time. A private interment will take place at Santa Cruz Memorial Park.
