He was a self-employed brick and stone mason and a Baptist by faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Tylene Elliott; and a brother, Bobby Payton.
He is survived by one daughter, Lucy Elliott; one son, Ray Elliott; two sisters, Betty Eadens and Geraldine Taulbert; one brother, Chester Payton; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service is noon Monday at the Neurath and Underwood Funeral Home, 725 E. Market St., with interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
