Succeeded his brother as Member of the Provincial Council. Purchased one acre of land (Section no 1007) at Waripori Street, but may also have had a house in upper Tinakori Road, since S. C. Sacred to the memory of John Dorset, Surgeon, who died at Nelson, October 2 1856, aged 49 years. Also Henry Lorimer Dorset, who died March 27 1850, aged 8 months. Also William Dorset, who died April 2nd 1877, aged 75 years. Also Charlotte Matilda, Relict of the late Wm Dorset, died October 13th 1901, aged 79 years.
