Eva Mae Hawley Wallace passed away at the age of 101 on Wednesday, Sept. 1. She died in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late William G Hawley Sr. and Ora Pearl Walker Hawley on Feb. 11, 1915, in Bluefield, W.Va. Mrs. Wallace worked for over 30 years at Rexall Drugs, and assisted Dr. B.G. Weathers Sr with home births around the county. She was a longtime member of Christ's Lutheran Church, and was very active in the church, teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir for over 75 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Wallace Jr, sisters Thelma, Helen, Esta, Lucy, Dottie, and brothers Royce, Harry, Bill Jr, and Bobby, grandson, infant Wallace Harrison, and infant great-granddaughter Hattie Tindall. She is survived by her children, Marilyn W. Smith, Ann W. Harrison and husband Jimmy, Libby W. Michael, all from Stanley, and Susie W. Rhyne and husband Eddie, from Mt. Holly, N.C. She is survived by her brother Lindy Hawley and sister in law Peggy Hawley. She is survived by her grandchildren, Connie Gray, Susan Sayers, Pechet Smith, Holly DeBeck, Kim Harrison, Sherry Tindall, Tonia Rutledge, Jon Michael, Patrick Michael, Melanie Rhyne, and Ashley Smith. In addition, she is survived by her 20 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, at Christ's Lutheran Church in Stanley, with visitation from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, 258 E Garrison Blvd, Gastonia, N.C. 28054, and to Christ's Lutheran Church, 203 S Main St, Stanley, N.C. 28164. Woodlawn Funeral Home of Mount Holly is in charge of arrangements.
