"Thelma Hawley Dunn, 94, formerly of Charlotte, died Feb. 18, 2002 at Stanley Total Living Center. She was a native of Giatto, W. Va., daughter of the late William G. and Ora Walker Hawley. The funeral is at 2 p.m. Thursday at Harry and Bryant Chapel, Charlotte. Interment is at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation is from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Dunn graduated from the Charlotte Sanitarium as a registered nurse. She worked as a nurse at the Charlotte Sanitarium, Charlotte Memorial Hospital and for the Bradford Clinic. She was a longtime member of St. John's Baptist Church, and also worked for many years at Harry and Bryant Co. Survivors include daughters, Joyce Gaston and husband Ted of Denver, NC, Sylvia Cross of Mount Holly, NC; son Kenneth B. Dunn, Jr. and wife Fern of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Sandra G. Barkley, John Gaston, Gary Gaston, Scott Cross, David Dunn, Brantley Dunn and Chris Dunn; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Lindy Hawley and Bobby Hawley; sisters, Eva Mae Wallace, Lucille Rhyne, Estalena Jamison and Dorothy Love. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth B. Dunn; grandson, Eric D. Cross; brothers, Royce E. Hawley, Harry W. Hawley and William G. Hawley Jr.; sister Helen H. Rouse. Officiating is the Reverend Todd Wright of First Presbyterian Church in Mount Holly. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Stanley Total Living Center, ..."
