Aged Buena Vista Resident is Dead
Death of Mrs. Maria Wanty Removes Old Resident of Town
Death again visited our community and took an old resident, Mrs. Maria Wanty, aged 93 years and 8 months. She was born at Orwell, Oswego Co., NY. Her maiden name was Bennett. She was married to Jacob Wanty at Oshkosh 70 years ago. Mr. Wanty died about 29 years ago.
Eight children came to bless the union of whom six are alive. They are Mrs. Charles Fletcher, at whose home Mrs. Wanty passed away; Mrs. George Fletcher, Buena Vista; Jacob Wanty, Wausau; Mrs. I.C. Newby, Sun Prairie; Nelson Wanty of Milwaukee, and Alfred Wanty of Buena Vista.
Deceased had been in failing health for some time, but was able to be about until 10 days ago, when she was taken seriously ill and it soon was evident that it was but a few days which Mrs. Wanty could remain, death coming on Tuesday, January 13th.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday morning at 9 o'clock at the home of C. Fletcher by Rev. Thos. Goldsworthy, after which the remains were taken to Oshkosh for burial.
