His wife was Rebecca Gibson Wanty. Their three children were:

Rev. E.M. Thompson, pastor of the Church of the Intercession, spent last Monday in the town of Buena Vista where he conducted double funeral services over the remains of Nathaniel Bennett and the latter's daugher, Mrs. Peter Barrett. Mr. Bennett, who was 78 years of age, passed away on Saturday following a few days' illness with congestion of the brain, and his daughter's death occurred the next day. She had been ailing for a long time with consumption. The only surviving member of the family is Mr. Bennett's widow.

A DOUBLE SORROW
Nathaniel Bennett and Daughter, Mrs. Mary Barrett, Dead in Buena Vista.
Nathanial Bennett, one of the early settlers of Buena Vista, passed away at his home in that town Friday and the funeral was to have been held Sunday afternoon, but owing to the fact that his daughter, Mrs. Mary Barrett, widow of Peter Barrett, also passed away Sunday morning, the funeral of the father was postponed and a double funeral was held today.
