She was named ANNIE OPHELIA BOWEN (b. AUG 1895, d. 23 OCT 1935), the fourth-born child of William Peter Bowen (1869-1918) and Winnie Ann Hagan (b. Feb 1873, d. ca 1925). On January 28, 1912, at age 16-years, ANNIE OPHELIA BOWEN (1895-1935) married 20-year old PHARIES EVERETT BOWEN (1891-1930). They were first cousins - she, the daughter of William Peter Bowen (1869-1918) and he, the son of Elisha Jackson Bowen (1852-1930) - William Peter Bowen and Elisha Jackson Bowen were brothers. A List of all PHARIES EVERETT BOWEN and ANNIE OPHELIA BOWEN'S children follows, in birth order:

1. JULIAN FOSTER BOWEN, b. 07 DEC 1913, d. 03 SEP 1987. He was born in Bulloch County, Georgia., Died in Bulloch County, Georgia. He married LAURA RUTH ZEIGLER, born 08 JUL 1922, died 02 OCT 2005. Both, Julian and his wife, Laura Ruth, are interred in BETHLEHEM PRIMITIVE BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY, Bulloch County, Georgia.

2. GLADYS BOWEN, b. 23 JUN 1916, d. 26 SEP 2003. She was born in Bulloch County, Georgia. Died in Chatham County, Georgia. Married MR. WARREN. Interred in Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Vidalia, Toombs County, Georgia. After the death of their mother, Annie Ophelia Bowen & Gladys' youngest sisters Madge, Mary and Maudell was farmed out to different families until Gladys sought them out, finding them, and took them in. Grady was also farmed out and Floyd was in Jacksonville Florida when his mother died there in 1935 and then five years later, in 1940, the US Federal Census documents Floyd living with his sister, Gladys, and Grady, too, was living with Gladys in 1940 (Source: Sonja Denise Bowen, born 30 MAY 1979, Great Granddaughter of PHARIES EVERETT BOWEN & ANNIE OPHELIA BOWEN). Also Sonja said, Most of the Children do not appear to have middle names except for Mary and her's was Lee, MARY LEE BOWEN. After the death of their parents, Pharies and Annie, the children had a really rough time. Sonja said, My Grandpa, Julian Foster Bowen, was married by the 1940s and My Great aunt Gladys Bowen was, also, married by the 1940s. My poor great aunts Mary and Maudell were so young when their parents died. Elaine, the daughter of my great aunt Maudell, in later years during the 1980s, tried to get great aunt Maudell's birth certificate, but County Office officials responsible would not issue it. The reason given was they "did not have enough proof of when she was born". My great aunt Gladys Bowen Warren took in every one of her younger brothers and sisters, took care of them and finished raising them to maturity, except for my Grandpa, Julian Foster Bowen (born in 1913), who was the oldest of the seven (7) children. Gladys was a brave and noble woman and deserves much credit and should be remembered for this sacrifice by subsequent generations.
