After the death of their mother, Annie Ophelia Bowen & Gladys' youngest sisters Madge, Mary and Maudell was farmed out to different families until Gladys sought them out, finding them, and took them in. My poor great aunts Mary and Maudell were so young when their parents died. Elaine, the daughter of my great aunt Maudell, in later years during the 1980s, tried to get great aunt Maudell's birth certificate, but County Office officials responsible would not issue it. The reason given was they "did not have enough proof of when she was born". My great aunt Gladys Bowen Warren took in every one of her younger brothers and sisters, took care of them and finished raising them to maturity, except for my Grandpa, Julian Foster Bowen (born in 1913), who was the oldest of the seven (7) children. Gladys was a brave and noble woman and deserves much credit and should be remembered for this sacrifice by subsequent generations.
