"C. H. Hargraves of the Hargraves-Carter Realty Company in the Mackay Building is lying near death in Montgomergy, AL. and his wife is speeding on her way to be at his bedside. Mr. Hargraves was picked up unconscious at the Union Train Station at Montgomergy on Saturday Afternoon while he was waiting for his train to San Antonio. [TX]. He had been on a business trip to Jacksonville, FL. and was returning home when he suddenly fell to the floor unconscious.
An ambulance removed him at once to St. Margaret's Hospital where the doctors found that he was suffering from uremic poisoning. He was identified by papers in his pocket and a telegram was sent immediately to Mr. Carter, his partner.
Mrs. Hargraves was notified of her husband's critical condition and left last night [by train] for Montgomery. It is feared he will not survive long enough to enable her to reach him."

MRS. HARGRAVES LOSES RACE WITH DEATH. HUSBAND, A WELL-KNOWN
SAN ANTONIAN, EXPIRES BEFORE HER ARRIIVAL.
"Six hours before his wife reached his side, death came to C.H. Hargraves, at 1:00 this morning at St. Margaret's Hospital, Montgomery, AL, where he was suddently stricken Saturday while on his way to San Antonio.
Mr. Hargraves was one of the [partners] of the real estate firm of Hargraves and Carter in the Mackay Building and went recently to Jacksonville, FL where he held interests in a wholesale grocery, a bank and other enterprises, with a view of closing out his interests and investing his money in San Antonio.
A telegram from the House Surgeon at the hospital, where he was removed, stated that death was due to uremic poisoning. He had been a sufferer from the trouble for some time and was under the care of a physician when he left San Antonio. He was a native of Georgia and also had business interests in that state. He came here about a year ago, thinking the climate would benefit him and during his stay in San Antonio had shown signs of improving. His sudden death will cause much sorry among his many friends here, for although he was a fairly new resident he was well acquainted in business and financial circles here. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hargraves is survived by five children."
