Waycross Journal (Waycross, Ga.), published 9 Aug 1907.

W.B. HARGRAVES, SR., DIED AT MILLWOOD
Millwood, Ga., Aug. 7 - Mr. W. B. Hargraves, Sr., died at his home about three miles from this place yesterday morning. The cause of death was paralysis, with which he had been stricken a few days previous.

Mr. Hargraves was one of the best known citizens of this community. He was a farmer and had lived in this county for years. He leaves a large family, who have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in their bereavement.

William Beverly Hargraves - the second of two sons of Thomas Hopewell Hargreaves and Nancy Beverly. He was named for his mother's father William Beverly. He is buried between his wives Elizabeth Walden and Appie Spivey.

He married his first wife Elizabeth Walden in May of 1861. Their children were Nancy Rebecca (McDaniel), Mary Jane (McDaniel), William Thomas, Charles Hardy, John M. Lafayette, Joseph Abraham, Alice Elizabeth (Bennett), Susan Priscilla (Bennett), Sarah Adaline (O'Steen), and Millicent Lucretia (Herring).

Upon Elizabeth's death in November 1875 he married in December his second wife Appie Spivey. Their children were William Beverly Jr., Deliah (Bennett), James, Paul Nicholas, Ellen Elizabeth (Bennett), Simon Peter, Dorcas Martha (Steed), Mark Labron, and Nellie Sylvania (O'Berry).

August 13, 2005, the Southern Iron Cross of honor was dedicated for his service in the 4th Georgia Clinch Cavalry, Company I.

Burial site for daughter Dorcus Martha (of Appie) is unknown to this contributor. She died in Oct 1966 in Duval County, Florida.
