Ruth Elaine Kerr, 81, passed away on August 15, 2016 in Sedalia, Missouri. She was born September 20, 1934, in Sedalia, the daughter of Everett W. and Edna Christina Sophia (Ficken) Martin. Ruth graduated from Green Ridge High School in May, 1952. On June 5, 1954, she was united in marriage to Ervin H. Miesner, who preceded her in death. One April 28, 1984, she was united in marriage to Stanford D. Kerr, who preceded her in death on August 8, 2014. Ruth was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sedalia. She was a member of GFWC Cosmopolitan Club. She worked many years in the equipment and supply division of Lady Baltimore Foods, in Kansas City, Kansas, retiring in December, 1999. She stayed busy volunteering in the Bothwell Regional Health Center’s Auxiliary. Ruth enjoyed meeting people, traveling, laughing, eating out, quilting, crocheting, reading and playing cards. She especially enjoyed being with her family, especially her sister, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with her many nieces and nephews. Ruth is survived by four sons; Duane Miesner of Tilden, IL., Dennis Miesner of Sedalia, MO., Douglas (Kelly) Miesner of Parkville, MO. and Dale (Bobbi) Miesner of Rayville, MO.; two step-children; Donna (Don) Lewis and Greg (Debbie) Kerr, both of Independence, MO.; two siblings; Charles (Marge) Martin of Cherry Hill, NJ and Jan (Steve) Henson of Sedalia, MO.; nine grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Russell Miesner; three sisters; Donna J. Burns, Sharon K. Dial, Mary E. Kropp, and four brothers; Herbert W. Martin, Robert E. Martin, John F. “Fred” Martin and Larry E. Martin. In addition to her close relationship with her family members, Ruth had many close friendships across the country. She had a dynamic personality which was readily shared when you met her! Her spunkiness and drive as well as her sincerity and strong faith will be remembered by all who know her. Funeral services for Mrs. Kerr will be Friday, August 19, 2016 at 12:00 pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sedalia, Missouri. Visitation will be from 10:30 am- 12:00 pm at the church.
