Matthew R. ''Matt'' Engel, 85, Kansas City, KS, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 1998, at his home. Mr. Engel was born in Ellis County, KS, and lived in Kansas City, KS, most of his life.

He owned Matt Engel Clothier and retired at age 70.

Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Friday, October 30, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Joseph A. Butler & Son Funeral Home, 19th & Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, KS, where the rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Engel, in 1987.

Mr. Engel is survived by a son, Dewayne Engel, Bonner Springs, KS; a daughter, Sandra Owens, Kansas City, KS; a brother, Ralph Engel, Hawaii; a sister, Freda Droegmeier, Tucson, AZ; four grandchildren.
