John A. Baldwin was born Jan 14, 1832 in Sandusky County, Ohio. He is the son of Ebenezer Baldwin and Rachel Chaffee Baldwin. He married Sarah Fuller in 1858 in Gratiot County, Michigan. Known children are two daughters, Rachael, and Samantha Baldwin and two sons, James and John M Baldwin.

He married Delphina A. Pelkey, daughter of John Pelkey and Mary Olmstead, in 1875, in Lucas County Ohio. They had twelve children: Henry Mann, Seymour, William M.,Fred Wilson, Mary Susanna Spinks Miller , George W., twins, Ella and Della, Marilla Mae, Bud, and twins, Nora and Zora. John died Jul 29, 1913 in Miami, Ottawa, Oklahoma.
