In 1999, the handwritten will of Nancy Claudia Price is in the possession of her only surviving child, Myra Smith Fuller. It is written on lined looseleaf notebook paper and is enclosed in an envelope preprinted in the upper left corner with the words "Long & Wortham/Paris, Texas." Handwritten on the face of the envelope in a different penmanship are the words "Will of Mrs. Claudia Smith." Following is an exact transcription of the document:

In Memoriam
Once more Death has entered our Chapter taking away one of our dearly loved members, Mrs. Claudia Smith, who passed away March 3d, 1951.
Nancy Claudia Smith was born near Glory, Lamar County, Texas, January 13th, 1875, the daughter of Joseph Miller Price and Henrietta Biard Price, both members of pioneer families.
Her father served in the Confederate Army in Company H, 9th Texas Cavalry, and carried a Northern bullet in his leg until his death in 1920.
Claudia married Harry Smith December 29th, 1897, in Antioch Church near Biardstown. His father also was a Confederate Veteran from Lamar County. She had been a widow since December 31, 1927, when her husband passed away.
She was a loving, patient mother and grandmother, and cared for her grandchildren a great deal while they were sick and while attending school in Paris where she lived.
She joined the United Daughters of the Confederacy soon after moving to Paris in 1925, and though not attending regularly on account of her family responsibilities, she was a loyal and devoted member and with her dues helped the Chapter with the various projects which it had undertaken. Though quiet and unassuming in manner, we shall miss her in our meetings and remember her with love.
In the words of the poet let us say, "With equal minds what happens, let us bear, nor joy nor grieve too much, for things beyond our care."
