Letitia, daughter of Hamilton and Sarah Scott Brownlee was born in Washington county, Pennsylvania, March 25, 1833 and laid down this life August 21, 1929 in her home near Tingley, Iowa, aged 96 years, 4 months, and 26 days.

In the Autumn of 1834 the family migrated to Warren County Ill., where she grew to womanhood. Her father died when she was eleven, leaving her mother and one brother to take up the burdens of a pioneer life.

Nov. 22, 1854 she was united in marriage with Andrew Milligan. To this union were born four children; James who died at the age of eleven, and Mary, in young womanhood, leaving Clara and Emma to care for her in her declining years, her husband having passed away December 30, 1915.

She was the last one of her family, her brother and half brothers and sisters having preceded her many years.

In 1867 she removed to Appanoose County, Iowa, and in 1891 to Ringgold County.

At an early age she professed her faith in Christ and united with the Henderson congregation of the Associated church, a branch of what is now the United Presbyterian Church, of which she has been a member except a few years, when after her marriage she united with the Reformed Presbyterian church to which her husband belonged. For more than 38 years she has been a member of Tingley United Presbyterian Church and her seat was not vacant in the house of God until she was prevented by infirmities.

Those left to mourn her departure are her children, Mrs. and Mrs. W.L. Henderson, Mrs. F.E. Gillis; grandsons, Harold Gillis and Claire Henderson and his wife, Jean, and great grandson, J.R. Henderson.
