Travis Reese Chandler, 81, of Waco, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006, at a nursing home in Lewisville. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Chapel Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Lester Adams officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.

Travis was born in Athens, La., to the late Eban and Sadie (Bush) Chandler. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and retired from the 980th Reserve Engineering Battalion in Waco. He worked as a sales representative for Watson Electric Supply Company for 38 years. He was known for his kind and easygoing manner, and was always ready to assist anyone in need. He was especially close to his great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by a brother, Revis Chandler.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary; son, Tommy Chandler and wife, Goldie; grandson, David Chandler; step-grandsons, Jody Harris and wife, Gina, Matthew Harris and wife, Shela; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ralph Chandler and wife, Martel, Dean Chandler and wife, Anita; sisters, Evelyn Coleman, Melver Stassen and husband, Ralph; and many other family members and friends.
