HAUGHTON, LA - Services for Evelyn Chandler Coleman, 88, will be held at Central Assembly of God at 11:00 a.m. on November 28, 2015 with Rev. Andy Harris officiating. Visitation will be at 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on November 27, 2015 at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home.

Evelyn was born in Hurricane, LA on August 07, 1927 and passed away on November 24, 2015. She graduated from Athens High School and received a Master's in education/music from Northwestern University and LA Tech. She was married to Charles L. Coleman, Jr. on December 26, 1948. Evelyn worked in elementary education, teaching at Benton Elementary for 30 years, and a choir director for 40 years. She was a faithful member of Central Assembly of God. She had a passion for music and her church family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Coleman, Jr.; one daughter, Sandra Colleen Coleman; parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.V. Chandler; brothers, Revis Chandler and Reese Chandler; two sisters , Vera Ethel Chandler and Cortence Chandler.

She is survived by son, Charles Bart Coleman of Plain Dealing, LA; daughter, Lyn Coleman of Haughton, LA; grandchildren, Chris Millen and wife Jessie, and Jarrad Coleman of Benton; great grandchildren, Hayden Millen and Micah Ballard of Benton; siblings, Ralph Chandler of Athens, LA, Melver Stassen of Athens, LA, and Dean Chandler and wife Inita of Athens, LA; a special friend, Lynn Dickson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Cypress Pointe, WK Bossier, Balentine Ambulance, and Willow Ridge. Thank you to all the special people at Central Assembly of God. Evelyn loved her church family and each of her friends had a special place in her heart. And a special thank you to Lynn Dickson for taking such good care of and loving our mother.
