BELVIDERE - Lois Joy Allen, 74, of Park Place in Belvidere passed away May 27, 2016. She was born July 15, 1941 in Hampshire to Ernest and Elta (Tewksburry) Allen. Lois was an expert at embroidery; she would embroider pillowcases, table clothes, dresser scarves, dollies, etc. then gave those items for weddings throughout the family. Her work detailed and perfected winning multiple first place ribbons at the Boone County Fair. Lois will be remembered for her love of chocolate, goofy socks and the truly unique birthday cards she sent. She is survived by her sister, Cleo VanVleet; brother-in-law, Donald Halsted; sister-in-law, Mary Allen; and many nieces and nephews who cared deeply for her. Lois will reunite with her parents; sisters and brothers who passed prior to her, LaValle Pfaffinger, Carol Crane, Garnet Halsted, Marian Groebner, Miles, Lisle and Sidney Allen. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 10am immediately followed by the funeral at 11am. Services will be held at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire, IL.
