Miles Allen, 82, of Hampshire, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, in DeKalb.
He was born Oct. 26, 1919, in Hampshire, to Ernest and Elta (Tewksbury) Allen. He married Anna Danielsen on Nov. 3, 1945, in Harmony.
He was a lifelong farmer in Hampshire and had a love for horses and fishing. He spent many winter days giving horse-drawn sleigh rides to his grandchildren and many summers with his family at his cabin at Skunk Lake, Wis.
Mr. Allen is survived by his wife; two daughters, Karen (Jim) O'Connor and Cindy (Ron) Rakowski, both of Hampshire; a son, Ernest "Cork" (Betty) Allen of Browntown, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Justin (Julie) Allen and Buffy (Matt) Beckman, both of Monroe, Wis., Danny Allen, Murf (Jessy) O'Connor, Kelly O'Connor, and Becky and Andy Rakowski, all of Hampshire; six great-grandchildren; six sisters, Lavelle Pfaffinger and Cleo (Lloyd) Van Vleet, both of Hampshire, Carol Crane of Boyne City, Mich., Garnett (Don) Halsted of Neshkoro, Wis., Marion "Mitz" (Ron) Groebner of Brodhead, Wis., and Lois Allen of Belvidere; a brother, Sid (Mary) Allen of Juda, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tim, in 1982; and a brother, Lisle, in 1956.
The visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park ST., Hampshire.
The funeral wil be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the funeral home with the Rev. Howard Gleason, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church of Burlington, officiating.
The interment will be in Doty Cemetery in Hampshire.
