LaVelle Pfaffinger of Hampshire A graveside service for LaVelle Pfaffinger, 87, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Hampshire Center Cemetery in Hampshire. Born Jan. 12, 1918, in Hampshire, the daughter of Ernest and Elta (nee Tewksbury) Allen, she passed away Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, in her home. LaVelle married Joseph Pfaffinger Dec. 28, 1935, in Elgin, and they farmed in Hampshire for nearly 30 years. After her husband's death, LaVelle worked in the cafeteria at Hampshire High School for 13 years. Following retirement, she enjoyed driving her golf cart around the homestead and sharing in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are her son, Thomas, Pfaffinger of Hampshire; 12 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Cleo VanVleet of Hampshire, Garnett (Don) Holsted of Neskora, Wis. and Lois Allen of Belvidere; brother, Sid (Mary) Allen of Juda, Wis.; sisters-in-law, Anna Allen of Hampshire and Violet Switzer of Marengo; brother-in-law, Ron Groebner of Brodhead, Wis.; many nieces and nephews; and former daughters-in-law, Darlene Pfaffinger of Woodstock, Virginia DeLio of Belvidere and Jean Kaschub of Genoa. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph; sons, Jerry and James Pfaffinger; daughter, Joanne Bishop; brothers, Lisle "Cy" and Miles Allen; sisters, Carol Crane and Marion "Mitz" Groebner; grandson, Fred Bishop Jr.; and great-grandson, Heston Ziller. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. Arrangements were made by Fredrick Funeral Home, Hampshire, 847-683-2711.
