Lila attended rural grade school, and graduated with the class of 1925 from St. Lawrence High School.
Lila and Charles H. King, both of St. Lawrence, Hand Co., SD postal address, were married July 21, 1926 in Pukwana, Brule Co., SD. In 1930, they were living in Jackson Co., SD, and by 1935 in Pennington Co., SD. In 1940, the family was living in Anacortes, Skagit Co., WA, where they remained.
They were the parents of two sons, Charles H. and Duane E. King.
Her husband, Charles, died May 9, 1983 in King Co., WA., and Lila died December 20, 2000 in Hartford Co., Maryland.
Lila was a homemaker, family genealogist, and button collector, but her main love was in making Teddy Bears. In a note, she wrote, "As of March 15, 1990, I have made 1271 bears. Income from them is given to Church, Senior Centers, and Button Club raffles."
