Asmus Steffen and his wife Lena Rohweder had 12 children. Two daughers, Ida and Clara, died in the diphtheria epidemic in Grundy County. The Steffen family moved to the Remsen area in 1885.
Asmus purchased a half-lot of four plots in 1893 (Block 1 East, Lot 43 – the north half). There don't appear to be any gravestones on this half lot.
Asmus then purchased an entire lot in 1908 (Block 1 East, Lot 62). Asmus and his wife are buried on the southwest corner of this lot, but they are the only ones.
Both Asmus and Lena's obits say the couple had 12 children, four of whom preceded them in death. Two died in Grundy County. It is possible that two more children died in Remsen and are buried in the Remsen City Cemetery.
Any further information would be very much appreciated.
