Mrs. Ruby Ethel Core entered that bourn from which no traveler returns, June 4, 1943, at the Memorial hospital, Nassawaddox.
Mrs. Core was born and reared near Melfa 63 years ago where she spent many years before moving to Wachapreague.
For many years she had been a member of the Methodist church belonging to all its organizations and having a part in all its work. She was also an active and interested member of the W. C. T. U. and the Coast Guard Welfare League. All the essential qualities needed in a devoted wife and mother were to be found in her.
Her funeral was conducted Sunday afternoon at 5 o'clock by the Rev. F. W. Griggs in the Methodist church. She was laid to rest in Mt. Holly cemetery.
Mrs. Core is survived by her husband, Geo. T. Core, a daughter Mrs. Vernon Rue of Onley; two sons, Geo. W. Core and Sidney M. Core of Wachapreague; four grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Lelia Core, Mrs. Olivia Watkinson and Mrs. Emma Beasley; two brothers, Charlie Guy and Upshur Guy.
Active pallbearers were her nephews, Dewey Guy, Johnnie Guy, Adolph Guy, Carol Guy, Raleigh Evans and Milton Beasley. Honorary pallbearers were members of her Sunday school class.
