Daughter of Sidney Childers Rymer and Ellen Josephine Hanks

On December 3, 1916, the family was blessed with a 12 pound black headed baby girl. Her hair was so long that it had to be parted to get it out of her eyes. She was named Phyllis Hanks Rymer. She was the first Rymer to be born in Grover. No one realized at the time that she would not be permitted to stay with the family long, as she was needed by the Lord in another sphere. On December 10, 1918, she made that transition. Nellie had gone to the potato cellar for vegetable in preparation for supper. Phyllis had gotten too close to the fireplace and her dress caught fire. The children went screaming to the porch. Nellie heard the screams and came running through the two feet deep snow to put out the fire and treat the burns. When Walter Hanks and Sidney arrived home from Torrey, where they had gone for both of the families, they gave her a priesthood blessing. The Lord's will was done and little Phyllis died on the 10th. She was buried in the Grover Cemetery. Just three days after Phyllis departed, Nellie gave birth to another baby girl who was named Lillie.
