Our Mother, Mary Roos, left this world peacefully in her sleep on December 31, 2015 to be with her Heavenly Father.

She is survived by her daughters Hilda and her husband Jim Buhler of Winnipegosis, Elma and her husband Garry Bergen of Winnipeg, 2 granddaughters Christina Bergen and Justina Bergen of Winnipeg, extended family members and friends.
Mom was the third youngest of nine children born to Cornilius and Maria Unger (nee Barkman) on the farm in the RM of Hanover near Steinbach.

Mom was born on August 25, 1925 and lived there by Steinbach until June 22, 1962 when she married our Father Dirk Roos and farmed the Roos homestead at Ochre River. They raised cattle, horses, pigs and chickens. Mom enjoyed her house full of hens and all the eggs to gather. Mom and Dad sold eggs and had many customers. Mom also enjoyed her big garden and flowers. There was lots of work on the farm but our mother loved all the animals and farm life.

They were blessed with two daughters; Hilda Marie was born on November 3, 1963 and Elma Elizabeth Grace was born on August 26, 1965.

Mom accepted Christ into her heart at the age of 15 and soon after was baptized in the river and later joined the church. Our Mom loved her Lord and Savior and went to church as long as she could. Up until 2 years ago her health was not good and so she had her church on TV. She watched Pastor Barber on TV every Sunday morning.
Mom was in the Personal Care Home in Winnipegosis for the last 4 years. Our Mother was a prayer warrior and prayed for her family, relatives, nieces, nephews and her church family. She even prayed for her Personal Care Home family, residents and staff.

She is survived by her daughters Hilda and her husband Jim Buhler of Winnipegosis, Elma and her husband Garry Bergen of Winnipeg, 2 granddaughters Christina Bergen and Justina Bergen of Winnipeg, extended family members and friends.

A celebration of Mary’s life was held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 from Nordheim Mennonite Church in Winnipegosis, Manitoba with Pastor Andrew Wiens officiating.

Interment followed in Turtle River Cemetery in Ochre River, Manitoba. Pallbearers were Eldon Schroeder, Wes Friesen, Roland Unger, David Geertsema, Alvin Unger, Melvin Kaufman.
