With deep sorrow and sadness we announce the sudden passing of Daniel Barkman Unger on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Third Crossing Manor, Gladstone, MB, where he was a resident. He passed away at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 27 days.
He was predeceased by his wife Katharina (Tina) Unger on July 19, 2009; his parents Cornelius and Maria Unger of Steinbach, MB; brothers, Ben, Corny, Dave and Victor Unger and sister Elizabeth.
Left to cherish his memories are his son George (Shirley) and daughter Vera (Don) Voodre of Boissevain, MB; special granddaughters Shawna (Chad) Neufeld of Thompson and Gwen (Bruce) Reimer of Austin, MB; great grandchildren Vanessa, Gregory and Regan Reimer; his sisters Winnie Dyck of BC and Mary Roos of Winnipegosis, MB; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Daniel will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Daniel had been a farmer all his life at Austin, MB. When his health was failing him, he moved to the Third Crossing Manor in Gladstone, MB. There he enjoyed playing games, attending church services, handivan outings and especially family visits.
A celebration of Daniel's life was held on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the Austin Evangelical Fellowship Church in Austin, MB. Interment followed at the Sommerfeld Cemetery at Austin, MB. Pallbearers were Bruce Reimer, Chad Neufeld, Don Voodre, Bradley Williams, Fred Amann and Marvin Jedel.
