Crash Victim Is Buried At Maryneal
Graveside rites for Taylor County's third wreck fatality of the year, Lewis J. Adams, 43, were held Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Maryneal Cemetery.
Adams was fatally injured Thursday night when his automobile struck a truckload of hay in a head-on collision on U. S. Highway 80, one-half mile east of the control tower at Abilene Municipal Airport. His car was demolished and hay was strewn over the highway. Adams' car was almost covered by the bales of hay.
Adams was born on July 30, 1909 [sic] in Harpersville, Texas. He moved to Maryneal in 1919 and lived there until five years ago when he moved to Abilene.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. H. B. Adams, 2502 Grape; his wife, Mrs. Billie Adams; two sons, Jimmy and Billy Joe, both of Abilene; five brothers, John and Buster Adams of Maryneal, Joe and Tom Adams of Abilene, and Charlie Adams with the Army in Germany; two sisters, Mrs. Wylie Hudman of Lubbock and Mrs. Jack Eppler of Abilene.
Laughter-North Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
