Funeral services for Frankie Lee Toland, 90, of Sweetwater will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories. Burial will be at Sweetwater Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater. She died Sunday, March 13, 2011, in Sweetwater. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at McCoy Funeral Home.
She was born Dec. 7, 1920 in Capitola, Texas. She was married to Barney C. Toland on Sept. 29, 1937 in Fisher County. She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 8, 2009 and also by two brothers, Bennie (Butch) Kidd and John Kidd. Mrs. Toland was a beautician for 50 years, and she owned and operated Frankie's Beauty Shop in Sweetwater from 1975 until 1996.
Mrs. Toland had lived in Sweetwater since 1975, and she had lived in Big Spring from 1966 until 1974. She was the oldest of nine children and was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was a member of Fourth and Elm Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Jan Smith and husband Steve of Sweetwater; four grandsons, Stephen Smith of Washington, D.C., Toland Smith and wife Kirstin of Sweetwater, McC Smith of Sweetwater and Zach Smith of Sweetwater; two granddaughters, Kirbie Compston and husband Bo of Sweetwater and Callie Davis and husband Paul of Frisco; four great-grandchildren, Braxton and Kyland Smith and Foster Grace and Smith Elle Davis; six sisters, M.E. Waddell of Midland, Ann Cearly of Denver, Colo., Margie Flint of Holdenville, Okla., Betty Steele and husband Corkey of Sweetwater, Jane Collins of Centerville and Wanda Jordan of Crockett; one sister-in-law, Betty Kidd of Eastland; numerous nieces and nephews; and her caregivers for the past three years, Benita Rodriguez and Viola Rivera.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Smith, Toland Smith, McC Smith, Zach Smith, Bo Compston and Paul Davis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Braxton Smith and Kyland Smith.
