Sweetwater - Mrs. Stella A. Fitzgerald, 74, longtime resident of Sweetwater, died at 2 p.m. Saturday in a Big Spring hospital. She had been in ill health for the past few years.
Born Stella A. Millsapps on May 10, 1886 [sic] in Mineola, she moved to Roby with her family when a young girl. She moved to Sweetwater in 1900.
She married Gerald Fitzgerald in Sweetwater in 1905. He died in 1947.
Mrs. Fitzgerald was employed by J. H. Dosher Cotton Co. for 23 years and later was employed as a bookkeeper for Kent Furniture Store here until her retirement. She had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church here for a number of years.
Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John M. Brand, pastor of the Colorado City Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery and will be directed by Cate-Spencer Funeral Home.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. James R. Carmichael of Arlington and Mrs. Sterling Kendrick of Colorado City; four sisters, Mrs. Carrie McCaulley and Mrs. Ruth Ingram of Sweetwater, Mrs. Ira Weakley of Post and Mrs. Zelda Heath of San Angelo; a brother, W. K. Millsapps of Henrietta; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A son, Jay, of Hamlin, died in 1956.
The family requests that any remembrances be made to the donor's favorite charity or church.
