Lex Angel Dies Tuesday;
Services Held At Bethel
Lex B. Angel, blacksmith and Macon County native, died Tuesday, January 19, at his home on Franklin, Route 5. He was 61 and had been in declining health for two years.
Funeral services were conducted the 20th at 2:30 p.m., at the Bethel Methodist Church by the Rev. William Wooten, the Rev. L. E. Angel, and the Rev. Fred Sorrells. Burial was in the church cemetery with Lee Gibson, Berlon Deal, Carl Angel, Roy Angel, Doyle Gibson, and Howard Mincey serving as pallbearers.
Born July 3, 1903, Mr. Angel was the son of the late Frank and Mrs. Addie Sanders Angel. He had been a blacksmith for some 40 years and was an avid baseball fan. Mr. Angel was married March 19, 1923, to Miss Kandus Gibson of this county, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Lex B. Angel, Jr., and Bobby Angel, both of Route 5; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Ballard, of Franklin, Route 3, Mrs. Cecil Poindexter, of Franklin, and Mrs Alvin Breedlove, of Bryson City; five brothers, Fred, Joe, Grover, and Carey Angel, all of Route 5, and John Angel, of LaGrange, Ga.; four sisters, Mrs. Luther Gibson, Mrs. John Gibson, Mrs Lewis Gibson, and Mrs, Jerry Griffin, all of Route 5; and 10 grandchildren.
Potts Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
