----------

Louise Wilhelmine Friedrike Kegler Meyer was born in Woltersdorf, kr. Randow, Pomerania, Prussia. This village was absorbed into Kreis Greifenhagen when Kreis Randow was dissolved on 15 October 1939. Most of the former Kreis Randow is now in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, but a small section around Gartz, including Woltersdorf, is now in Brandenburg.

Louise was the daughter of Michael Kegler and Karolina Brauer Kegler. The family immigrated to the U.S. in 1881, sailing aboard the 'Braunschweig' from Bremen, Germany, to Baltimore, Maryland. Some of Louise's siblings remained in Germany, but Frederich, Ferdinand and Maria also immigrated with their parents. Sister Christine immigrated to America prior to her parents, arriving with her husband Wilhelm Splittgerber earlier that year.

On 13 June 1886, Louise married Frank Carl Meyer in Medina, Dane County, Wisconsin. Together, they settled on a farm in Marshall, Dane County, Wisconsin, where they raised a large family. Their children, in birth order, were:

Lydia Augusta Meyers Nickels - linked below
Henry Michael Meyer - linked below
Infant Meyers (1889-1889) - Burial location unknown
Louis Walter "Louie" Meyers (1890- 1957) - linked below
Ella F. Meyers Taylor - linked below
Elmer William Meyers - linked below
Frank Carl Meyers - linked below
Theodora "Theo" Meyers Larson - linked below
Raymond G. "Ray" Meyers (1902-1987) - Died on 30 Nov 1987 in Wichita, Kansas
Leslie H. "Les" Meyers - linked below
Harold E. "Harry" Meyers - linked below
Theodore Leo "Ted" Meyers - linked below
Geraldine Grace "Gerry" Meyers Allen - linked below

Please note that English was not the native language for either Louise or Frank. As a result, the spelling of their surname is inconsistent among their descendants. Some of the children spelled it Meyer, but the majority spelled it Meyers.

Though these children did not all stay in Wisconsin, those that moved away did return to visit with their families. The farm was a joyous gathering spot for these large reunions. Louise is remembered and loved.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: The current-day municipality of Casekow [ka:ze ko:] was created on 31 December 2002, by merging the formerly independent communities of Casekow, Blumberg, Luckow-Petershagen, Wartin and Woltersdorf. Michael Kegler's birthplace was the village of Casekow (then known as Kasekow). Karolina Brauer Kegler and her children were born in the village of Woltersdorf. Both of these smaller villages are now included in the municipality of Casekow. Geographic location is: 53°13′00″N 14°13′00″E .
