Melba Witney Mecham Rasmussen

Early Life: Melba was born in Plano, Idaho, on October 7, 1924, to Daniel and Harriet Bringhurst Witney. She was raised in Springville, Utah, a city dear to her heart. She and her siblings: Norma, Ruth, Frank and Marion, worked on their little family farm in addition to helping their father, who was the custodian at Springville High School. Melba learned the value of hard work and she was a hard worker all her life.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: In 1944, Melba married Bob Mecham in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in California, Provo, Oregon, Wyoming and Arizona. They had three children: Anne, Dan and Rick. She had many jobs and always kept her family active in the LDS Church. After her marriage to Bob ended, she moved to Provo, Utah, where she worked for the Forest Service. In 1975, she married Ronald Rasmussen in the Provo Utah LDS Temple; they had a very happy life together until his death in 1996. They had a beautiful home and yard, which she kept immaculate. She enjoyed making baby quilts and volunteered at the Family History Library at Brigham Young University. Melba Witney Mecham Rasmussen passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 29, 2015. She was 90 years old.

Survived By: Three children: Anne and Elvis Tippets, of Arvada, Colorado; Dan and Sue Mecham, of South Jordan; and Rick and Ronette Mecham, of Draper; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
