Marlene Edna Coil, 83, of LaPorte, died Friday, Aug. 28, 2015.

She was born Oct. 6, 1931, in Rolling Prairie, IN, to Archie and Edna (Siuda) Rehlander and lived her entire life in LaPorte County.

Marlene worked at Allis-Chalmers for 12 years, Whirlpool for two years, TP Orthodontics for 23 years and Stelrema for two years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its Rosary Sodality, having served as past president and past secretary; chairman of the St. Joseph Catholic Church Port a Pit Chicken Benefit and funeral dinners; member of American Legion Auxiliary 295 of Union Mills (past treasurer for five years); and member of Michigan City Senior Center, Michigan City Moose Auxiliary 935 and Indiana Farm Bureau Association, Union Mills. She loved to dance, enjoyed meeting people and enjoyed life, travel and working in her yard.

On April 14, 1956, in LaPorte, she married Norman E. Coil, who preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 1997.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Muriel Lekarczyk; and two friends, Dale Gretton and Roger Hingst.

She leaves behind a son, Mark Norman Coil of LaPorte; a daughter, Marilyn (Jerry) Starr of Chatsworth, CA; her friend, Janice Cronin of Berrien Springs, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
