Marion Louise Schmidt, age 89, of Tipton, IA, died on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Simpson Memorial Home, West Liberty, IA.
Marion was born September 9, 1925 to Arthur and Amelia (Grunder) Wacker in Muscatine County, IA. She graduated from Wilton High School in 1943. Marion married Calvin C. "Mike" Schmidt on May 25, 1950 in Wilton, IA. He preceded her in death on September 28, 2011.
She was a typesetter and proof-reader at the Tipton Conservative for many years, retiring in 2009. Together with her husband Calvin, she owned and operated Schmidt Electric in rural Tipton, IA. They also farmed in Cedar County.
She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Wilton, IA and a former member of the Ladies Aide. Marion enjoyed flower gardening and sewing. Above all, she loved her family.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2015 from 2-5 P.M., at Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton, IA. Additional visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at Zion Lutheran Church, Wilton, IA.
Services will be held on Monday, August 24, 2015, at 10:30 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, Wilton, IA.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Battey, Dan Oien, Andrew Oien, Tim Kelly, Luke Parizek and John Burr. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Stephanie Kelly, Jillian Parizek, Joni McBride, Stephanie Oien and Jolene Battey.
Interment will take place at the Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton, IA.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughters: Marcia (Gary) Battey of Muscatine, IA, Sally (Jay) McBride of Atalissa, IA and Rita (Steve) Oien of Wilton, IA, her grandchildren: Stephanie (Tim) Kelly, Mike (Jolene) Battey, Dan Oien, Andrew (Stephanie) Oien, Jill (Lucas) Parizek and Joni McBride; 10 great grandchildren and her sister Shirley McClean of Moline, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her sister Emily Burr.
Memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church in her memory.
