Geraldine Ethel Adema, a lifelong resident of Bellingham, WA, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2012.

Gerry was born February 21, 1928 in the family home on Northwest Avenue, to Josephine and Louis Parberry.

She was a graduate of Bellingham High School and Shaw Secretarial School, where she mastered the skill of shorthand. She worked numerous positions as a secretary, including the University of Portland Dental School, Robert Brothers department store and several legal offices in Bellingham.

Gerry loved music and had a beautiful singing voice. She sang in several church choirs and loved to play the old upright piano, singing and entertaining family and friends. Gerry also loved to write and read poetry.

She leaves behind her family, including her children; son Jim Adema and daughter Suzanne Baker, both of Bellingham; her grandchildren Maggie and Lucas Baker of Seattle and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Gerry's extended family at Alderwood Park Convalescent Center, where she received much love and support over the years.

A memorial reception will be held on Friday, July 6 at 3 pm at the Broadway Hall in Bellingham. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given in Gerry's name to either a charity of your choice or to the Light House Mission.
