Gordon B. Parberry

Gordon Bernard Parberry, a lifetime resident of Bellingham, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008. He was born in Bellingham to Louis and Josephine Parberry on October 7, 1923.

Gordon joined the Army Air Force for WWII as soon as he was old enough. He served 3 ½ years, mostly in the South Pacific, and earned a Bronze Service Star along with other medals. Gordon also served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, stationed in Korean and Japan. Upon his return from Japan, he met and later married Helen J. Zwarun. He spent the years after the war working as a survey crew member for a number of large State and corporate projects. This funded his later adventures and businesses.

He loved the mountains, the sea, animals, and the company of his friends. He spent his last couple of years living with Brian, Lisa, Erin, Evan, and Danielle Parberry.

Gordon is survived by his wife Helen and sister Geraldine Adema. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Josephine, brother Louis, and sisters Maxine and Lorraine Urbick.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 5th, at Woodlawn Cemetery, with a gathering following at the VFW Post 1585 at 625 N. State St. Memorials may be made to the VFW.
