Mrs. Boatner was born in Haralson County, Ga., August 30, 1922, daughter of the late Doc Weaver and Mrs. Phoebe Lewis Weaver of Rockmart. She was a retired employee of the J. C. Penney Co. and a member of the Collard Valley Baptist Church where she was active in the WMU and the Ladies Sunday School Class before her illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Rev. Johnny Boatner, April 19, 1975.
Surviving beside her mother are one daughter, Mrs. Barry Boatner of Cedartown; two sons, Dallas Gladden of College Park and Mike Gladden of Cedartown; two step-daughters, Mrs. Gerald Worley of Douglasville, Ga. and Mrs. Clyde Reveis of Jacksonville, Fla., three step-sons, Rev. Glenn Boatner of Rome, Gerald Boatner of Cedartown and Barry Boatner of Cedartown; three sisters, Mrs. Tatum Robinson of Cedartown, Mrs. W. D. Free of Taylorsville and Mrs. Josh Bradley of Rockmart; four brothers Martin Weaver of Rome, Raymond Weaver of Rockmart, James R. Weaver of Tucker and B. F. Weaver of Forest Park, Ga., 14 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 4, 1975 in Collard Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Herman Mills and Gerald Cox officiating. Interment followed in the Hill Crest Cemetery in East Point, Georgia.
Pallbearers were B. F. Brown, Johnny Womack, J. T. Cook, Horace Simpson, Tommy Allen, and Herbert Weathington. Honorary pallbearers included Nurses of the Polk General Hospital. Henderson Frazier Funeral Home of Rome was in charge of the arrangements.
